About the person

Thomas Elster advises and represents our clients in the areas of banking and capital markets law as well as commercial and corporate law.
He is dedicated to the establishment of Korean companies in Germany and Europe and also draws on the tax expertise in international tax law at BERGEMANN SCHÖNHERR & Partner.
He also brings invaluable experience as a litigator in complex proceedings and large-scale litigation.

Thomas Elster completed his banking training in Frankfurt am Main and then gained banking experience in New York.
He studied law at the Albertus Magnus University in Cologne and gained professional experience in banking and commercial law at a renowned Munich law firm from 1999. From 2004 to September 2025, he was a founding partner with our esteemed partner Christian Hackenberg in a medium-sized law firm in Munich specializing in commercial law.

Thomas Elster has been a partner at BERGEMANN SCHÖNHERR & Partner since October 2025.

He is a member of the Banking and Capital Market Law Working Group of the German Bar Association.

Since 2017, Thomas Elster has been Honorary Consul of the Republic of Korea and a member of the German-Korean Society and the German-Korean Legal Society.
As a German-Swiss dual citizen, Thomas Elster has been a member of the Swiss-German Business Club in Munich since 2007, of which he was a long-standing board member.
